Chicago Bears QB Mitch Trubisky is carrying the weight of the franchise on his shoulders this season. He’s been charged with learning an entirely new offensive system in only his second season in the NFL and after starting only 12 games as a rookie. If he fails, the entire team fails.
But if there’s anyone who can do it, it’s Trubisky. He’s proven this offseason that he’s capable of being the face of the franchise even in the face of criticism for his average (at best) rookie season.
Bears veterans like Kyle Long have said all offseason that Trubisky is the unquestioned leader in the locker room and he gave fans a little glimpse into why when he was mic’d up during a training camp practice. He showed he can have fun when appropriate but that he’s also all business when it comes time to produce on the field.
