Vikings rookie Daniel Carlson might have already won the kicking job

Rookie Daniel Carlson is in the middle of a competition with veteran Kai Forbath for the Vikings’ kicking duties.

It looks like Carlson has the early edge over Forbath after his performance against the Broncos on Saturday night in Week 1 of the preseason.

Carlson was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals, connecting from 39 and 57 yards.

He was also 4-for-4 on extra points.

Things aren’t looking good for Forbath. Obviously the Vikings drafted Carlson in the fifth round to be their starting kicker. The writing was already on the wall for Forbath, but after Carlson’s first game, the writing seems to be in pen, not pencil.
