Tyron Smith, not Zack Martin, named best at OL position for 2019

Touchdown Wire has been doing a position-by-position countdown of the top talent in the NFL heading into the 2019 season. The Cowboys of course have their fair share of talent spread across the organization, but no more than the offensive line. The trio of Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin, drafted in 2011, 2013 and 2014 respectively, has anchored Dallas’ plans for the better part of the decade.

Injuries have slowed them down some, including Frederick missing the entire 2018 season due to a rare auto-immune disease, but they are regarded as the best collection of young line talent the league has seen in years. While players move up and down these lists, and on and off, they remain there, perched at the top. With Frederick’s absence, he won’t qualify for this list, but Smith and Martin appear at the top of the tackle and guard lists. Here’s where each rank among their peers.

3. Zack Martin, Dallas Cowboys

There wasn’t much question about Martin’s ability to dominate when he came out of Notre Dame; that’s why the Cowboys took him with the 16th overall pick in the 2014 draft, and Martin has proven the wisdom with Pro Bowl berths in every one of his NFL seasons, along with three first-team All-Pro nods.
