UPDATE (10/12): Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert shared a photo on Twitter of his ankle, which is now in cast following surgery. It’s not pretty.

UPDATE (10/1): Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert has already had surgery to repair his broken ankle, and it sounds like it went as well as it possibly could:

Since the injury occurred in late September, it’s ‘possible’ Eifert is fully recovered by the time he becomes a free agent in March. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Bengals handle it, as they also have Tyler Kroft and C.J. Uzomah also set to become free agents.

Ideally, the Bengals get one of them re-signed and give Eifert another one-year ‘prove it’ deal. Eifert deserves another shot, but he’s not going to get much interest on the market, so the Bengals may be able to keep him at a minimal deal.

At least he’s in good spirits.

Just as his season was taking off, Tyler Eifert is out for the rest of 2018.
