Signing of Alex Carter helps injury-ravaged secondary

The Carolina Panthers secondary needs the reinforcement…

On Sunday, the Carolina Panthers added some much-needed depth at the cornerback position. The team signed Alex Carter, who most recently played for the Seattle Seahawks. As a report from Panthers.com notes, he joined the team on Sunday for their practice at Wofford College.

Carter does not have much to show for his career in the National Football League to this point. Drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, he has played in one game and does not have any stats for his efforts.

With the addition of Carter, the Carolina Panthers put Damian Parms on injured reserve. He was hurt in the team’s win against the Buffalo Bills in the preseason opener.

This is not the type of signing that is going to make headlines, nor is Carter the type of player that is going to make the front page of a newspaper. At least to this point, it is safe to say his career has been rather uneventful. However, the team needs the depth pretty badly.
