The Cleveland Browns will be hosting former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant on a free agent visit this Thursday, per Dianna Russini of ESPN. Bryant was released by the Cowboys earlier this summer and has yet to latch onto an NFL roster.
The New Orleans Saints have been suggested frequently as a pairing for Bryant despite the number of receivers vying for targets in the loaded offense. Most of that speculation has been driven by Saints head coach Sean Payton following Bryant on Twitter, and Bryant himself suggesting the team as a match when Dallas let him go back in April. But the Saints seem loaded up at wideout between Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr, Tre’Quan Smith, and Cameron Meredith. Not to mention upstarts like Keith Kirkwood, Tommylee Lewis, and Brandon Tate.
And now Bryant is officially meeting with the Browns. That said, Denver-based NFL reporter Benjamin Allbright suggested Bryant’s meeting with the Browns doesn’t preclude a contract offer. It seems fair to think this is just a ploy by Bryant or the Browns to drum up publicity with a Hard Knocks appearance. But hey, maybe something comes of...
