With Monday’s deadline rapidly approaching, Terry Rozier and the Boston Celtics are not close on a contract extension, per Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.
A source told Himmelsbach that Rozier wants to be the starting point guard for a team and will ask for the minutes and the money of a starting point guard. The same source also said it could be in the $20 million per-year range.

The same source told Himmelsbach that “there’s not going to be any extension” because “it wouldn’t make any sense for Terry to do that.”
Rozier will be a restricted free agent next summer, which means the Celtics can match any offer a team makes to him.
It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out between Rozier and the Celtics. With Kyrie Irving saying he’s willing to re-sign with the Celtics next summer, it seems like a deal between Rozier and Celtics might be in jeopardy. Until contracts are signed, though, anything can...
