Boston Celtics’ restricted free agent Marcus Smart isn’t likely to be included in a sign-and-trade deal, per the Boston Sports Journal’s Brian Robb.
Smart has reportedly been frustrated by a lack of communication on behalf of the Celtics, and is said to have met with at least four other teams throughout the offseason. None of them have made him an offer. They may simply think doing so would be a waste of time and cap space.

Boston is on the record as wanting to keep Smart in the fold, and has the ability to match any offer sheet that he signs. A sign-and-trade deal would help get around such trouble, but the incentive for the Celtics to pull the trigger on such a transaction isn’t clear.
By all accounts, Boston genuinely wants to keep Smart. Working with another team to send him out of town runs counter to its desired outcome.
