This one comes as no surprise.
After being the defensive coordinator for one of the best defenses in the league, George Edwards will be back with the Vikings in 2018 after his contract expired according to Sporting News.
Coach Mike Zimmer is the true mind behind the defense, but it appears as if he’s worked well with Edwards over the years.
Edwards, 51, interviewed for the Bears’ head coaching spot this offseason, but lost out to Matt Nagy.
He’s been with the Vikings since 2014 and was the defensive coordinator for the Bills from 2010-11 and the Redskins in 2003.
The Vikings ranked first in yards allowed last season and first in total points allowed.
It helps to have great players on that side of the ball as well, and that credit goes to general manager Rick Spielman. But Zimmer and Edwards have done a great job scheming them.
