We already knew Devonta Freeman would not play in tomorrow’s game between the Falcons and Panthers. Now, it sounds like he’s going to be out for a while longer.
According to a report by Adam Schefter at ESPN, Freeman is dealing with a knee contusion and is expected to miss two or three weeks.
Remember, Freeman sat out for the entire preseason campaign so it’s possible he wasn’t entirely ready to go when the games began last week.
Atlanta’s run game should be okay with Tevin Coleman stepping up to take his place. So long as Coleman doesn’t get injured or rookie Ito Smith isn’t a total failure, the Falcons can handle Freeman being out a few more games.

The real concern here is Freeman’s long-term health. Freeman only missed one game his first three years in the league, but he’s been found on the injury report more often recently.
