The Indianapolis Colts are expected to name Josh McDaniels the new head coach soon and they are reportedly putting the “finishing touches” on his deal.
Despite some rumors and “chatter” that McDaniels was feeling some cold feet about becoming the Colts next head coach, it seems everything is moving in the direction everyone expected.
In fact, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reported that the deal is nearing its completion.
Though they likely had an unofficial agreement, the Colts couldn’t announce McDaniels as the head coach until he fulfilled his duties with the New England Patriots.
Since their loss in Super Bowl LII to the Philadelphia Eagles marks the end of the season and the beginning of the offseason, the Colts are now free to make that announcement.
It isn’t clear when the team will officially name McDaniels the new head coach but it is expected to be soon, even as early as Tuesday, per FOX 59 and CBS4’s Mike Chappell.
