Josh Gordon is going to be released by the Cleveland Browns on Monday. The Washington Redskins could have interest but will have to decide whether or not he’s worth the trouble.
Nobody saw the Josh Gordon release coming. On Saturday afternoon, he was declared out for the Browns-Saints game as he continued to deal with a hamstring injury. That was a surprise. But the team announcing that they would release him on Monday? That was frankly shocking.
Granted, Gordon has been a great deal of trouble for the Browns, he failed multiple drug tests, was suspended for a long period of time, and didn’t report to the team until late this offseason, but he’s still a talented player. And given how long they stayed committed to him, this just seems like a strange time to part with him.
That said, now that Gordon is available, there will be a handful of NFL teams that will want his service. I’m sure that the Patriots will be tied to him, as they love reclamation projects, but the Redskins are a team whose name could surface as...
