The Baltimore Ravens have some cap space for the first time in years. At an estimated $29.243 million, according to Over The Cap, the Ravens have enough capital to hit the early stages of free agency hard if they wish. But I contend Baltimore would be far wiser to sit tight and be quieter than not this offseason.
The Ravens have huge holes at a number of key positions right now and many fans are looking for Baltimore to make a splash in free agency to remain relevant. But with a roster that’s getting younger after some early cuts, the Ravens seem to be trending towards either a full rebuild or at least a retooling this offseason.
It’s a wise stance for Baltimore to take, at least for right now. The free agent markets for wide receiver and interior offensive linemen are thin this offseason. Being two of the biggest holes on the Ravens’ roster, signing top free agents there would cost Baltimore a fortune. It’s incredibly unlikely the Ravens would find any value this early on and far more likely they overpay for marginal talent at those...
