Raiders' Gruden on return to sidelines 'the nostalgia has worn off'

Raiders coach Jon Gruden had his moment of reflection at the Oakland Coliseum. After his return game against the Lions Friday, he swiftly turned the page.

“Like I’ve said all along, this is a great responsibility. The nostalgia has worn off,” Gruden said during post-game media availability. “We’ve got to do something with the opportunity.”

Tuning in to the Raiders’ first contest of the 2018 season, it was fun to watch Gruden’s warm and fuzzy pregame vibe give way as he became the laser-focused, win-at-any-cost coach the Bay Area fell in love with during Gruden’s first stint in Oakland from 1998-01.

Gruden made sure to visit the “Black Hole” fan section pre-game as well. He’s all smiles and handshakes in this video posted on Raider Nation Boston’s Twitter account.
