Paul Pierce and LeBron James weren’t the most friendly of on-court competitors. The former represented the first major hurdle that the latter needed to clear in order to set down the path to becoming one of the greatest players in NBA history.
He succeeded in doing so, but not before enduring more than his fair share of trash talk. Now – with Pierce thoroughly vanquished and retired and James still humming along as the best player the league has to offer – the Boston Celtics’ legend has nothing but nice things to say about the King.
“Me and [KG] talk about LeBron all the time,” Pierce told Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck. “He lives right down the street. We always talk about that, about what he’s accomplished. Even though we were bitter rivals, like we didn’t like each other, we are fans of the game.”
