Upper-body injuries aren’t contagious . . . right?
According to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly is currently recovering from a right shoulder procedure. He is now the fourth team captain to have undergone right shoulder surgery over the last two offseasons—joining quarterback Cam Newton, center Ryan Kalil and most recently, defensive end Julius Peppers.
Kuechly, who was selected to his fifth straight Pro Bowl, missed the all-star festivities on Jan. 28th. Person did add, however, that the decision to repair the injury this early should keep the former AP Defensive Player of the Year and five-time First-team All-Pro from missing any regular season contests.
Although his right shoulder issue did show up on Carolina’s injury report ahead of their Week 15 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, Kuechly did not miss a down in that game or in any others to close out the 2017 campaign. This also wasn’t his first trip under the knife for a problem of this nature, as a torn labrum sustained during the 2015 season forced him to undergo surgery on his left shoulder shortly following the Panthers’ loss in Super Bowl...
