This is what’s known as the deep breath before the deluge of free agency news. For now, here’s a couple small Panthers news items.
First, on Wednesday evening it was reported by Adam Caplan on Twitter that Carolina cut cornerback Teddy Williams.
Williams was not a significant contributor for the Panthers secondary. He missed 13 games in 2016 and all of last season with injuries.
In other more interesting news, former running back Jonathan Stewart is meeting with his hometown team. According to Mike Garafolo at NFL Network, Stewart is visiting with the Seahawks today.

Stewart grew up in the area and recently eloped in Seattle.
The Seahawks’ run game used to be fierce but has fallen off since Marshawn Lynch’s exit and Thomas Rawls’ unfortunate luck with injuries, to say nothing of a near-criminal neglect of their offensive line.
Perhaps if Stewart signs he can help take some of the pressure off Russell Wilson, but it’s unlikely. He couldn’t do much behind Carolina’s front five last year and Seattle’s unit is significantly worse.
