We’ve already done the AFC Power Rankings, so now it’s time for the NFC. Let’s just get right to it.
Yes, the NFC South barely edges out the next division. I think it’s more because the top team in the NFC South is slightly better than the top team in the next division in the rankings. The Saints were a bad call away from the Super Bowl. They’ll be out for revenge. They aren’t super deep, but their starters are just so good. The Falcons are only three seasons out from the Super Bowl. They’d be better if Dan Quinn was slightly better. They have one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, a former MVP at quarterback, and some good talent on defense. The Panthers are up and down every year. Last year was a down year, so expect them to be up this year. The Bucs are just kind of mediocre but solid. Maybe Bruce Arians taps into their potential.
The NFC North was just outside the NFC South. The Bears need to prove that last year wasn’t a fluke. Mitch Trubisky needs to take a leap right now because Chicago can’t waste its very talented roster. The Bears could have the best defense in the NFL. Speaking of good defenses, the Vikings are very good on that side of the ball. Kirk Cousins can’t beat teams that finish the season over .500, but he should get some this year. The Packers have Aaron Rodgers and a new coach. We’ll see how that works out. The Lions are just unlucky that the rest of their division is very solid. The Lions could be good if they were in either division...
