The Nets are done with Summer League and it couldn’t have ended any worse. Brooklyn lost to Indiana by 37 points and finished the week-long league 0-5. They were the only winless team in the 30-team event.
Tyler Davis, the 6’10” center out of Puerto Rico and Texas A&M, lead the Nets with 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists, hitting 8-of-11 shots. Only three other Nets finished in double figures was Theo Pinson the Carolina Tarheel, who had 12 points, including 3-of-7 from deep. Pinson who shot poorly throughout his career at Chapel Hill, finished the tournament shooting 42.9 percent, more than 20 percentage points higher than his last year of college. Trevon Thompson who played for the Warriors G-League team had 11 points.
Yuta Watanabe scored eight points but didn’t record any rebounds and James Webb III finished with nine.
Neither Jarrett Allen nor Caris LeVert played. LeVert in fact didn’t play a minute although he had said he expected to play a couple of games. The Nets insist LeVert is healthy and practicing. Also sitting was Rodions Kurucs. The Nets 6’9” rookie swingman had also been expected to participate, but his buyout with F.C. Barcelona wasn’t fully resolved until Friday. ...
