Entering the second game of the preseason, Ravens fans were looking forward to getting a glimpse of their starting lineup in action. They got just that, and in their first drive, the starting offense executed a near perfect drive that ended in a touchdown.
Good runs, catches and blocking highlighted the drive, but one play that stood out was Joe Flacco’s first connection with Michael Crabtree. Flacco was pushed out of the pocket, but used some athleticism to make a nice on the move throw to an open Crabtree, who had put a move on the Rams cornerback who was covering him.
Crabtree was able to run a good secondary route on a play that Flacco was able to extend with his legs. Crabtree had dropped a pass that he should have hung onto earlier in the drive, but more than made up for it by going up and making a nice catch to extend the drive.
Flacco and Crabtree need to have a special connection in order for this Ravens team to succeed. Hopefully this catch is the first of many more for that...
