NFL free agency and the official league new year kicked off Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Central, and Houston Texans general manager Brian Gaine has signed safety Tashaun Gipson and cornerback Bradley Roby. The moves were understandable since the Texans let Tyrann Mathieu and Kareem Jackson go in free agency.
It all begs the question: On paper are the Texans any better than they were after their embarrassing 21-7 wild-card playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts?
The answer has to be no. The biggest need is obviously the offensive line, but Gaine and company has yet to sign an offensive lineman. Is it possible that they really love this year’s offensive linemen in the draft?
If that is the case Texans pick at 23 in the first round and the top offensive lineman is Jonah Williams out of Alabama. It is highly doubtful he falls to 23rd overall. The eerie thing is the Texans have been very quiet on Kirby Drive this free agency. So with that said, could there be something bigger in the works?
Could it possibly be a trade centered around Jadeveon Clowney? Would the Texans actually trade their stud defensive player to possibly move up into this year’s draft to possibly select Williams? Sure it could happen, but that’s just one piece to the...
