It’s football time, folks, and we’re back again with the Interview with the Enemy series. This week, Seth Cox of Revenge of the Birds answers 5 quick questions about the upcoming preseason matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals:
What is the position for the Cardinals battle Saints fans can focus in on in the first preseason game?
There are not many pure position battles at this point. Wide receiver two between Brice Butler, Chad Williams, J.J. Nelson and rookie Christian Kirk is one to watch, and the first week of preseason did nothing to help that battle. The Cardinals only completed three passes to wide receivers against the LA Chargers, one to undrafted free agent Jalen Tolliver and two to Kirk for nine yards.
From there, the starting defensive end opposite Chandler Jones is up for grabs with Markus Golden still returning from injury. Benson Mayowa, Arthur Moats and undrafted free agent Vontarrius Dora are in the mix for that job.
The biggest battles are for depth positions and roster spots. The wide receiver room is wide open after Larry Fitzgerald, as is the linebacker room after the injury to Jeremy Cash. The offensive line was a mess after the first unit left the field, so all five backup positions are in play as...
