The Cleveland Browns defeated the New York Giants on Thursday to a tune of 20-10. That’s right! The Browns are undefeated and despite the fact their win was only an exhibition preseason game that has no bearing on the actual 2018 NFL season, fans are apparently going crazy. Since that glorious Thursday, it seems some of the animosity towards Hue Jackson has died down.
Jackson is entering his third year and his cumulative record after his first two seasons is 1-31, including a fascinating 0-16 record in 2017. But with one pedestrian preseason win, it has seemed to wipe everything away. Not only is there classic water-cooler chatter among fans about Jackson not having any real talent in his previous two seasons, a few radio hosts have even mentioned the fact that the first two seasons of Jackson’s tenure should be wiped away considering the terrible talent he was provided.
THIS IS INSANE!
I will forgive any first-year head coach for a miserable record even if they can only accomplish one victory, but to act as if the 2017 roster was 0-16 terrible is just asinine. Jackson stood by DeShone Kizer and said he could turn him into the guy and just a few months into the youngster’s career he seemingly gave up.
