Here's how the Redskins plan on slowing down Cam Newton

After trying and failing to slow down Drew Brees in Week 5, Washington’s defense will have another difficult challenge in Week 6 when they take on Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.

Newton’s versatility is what makes him such an elite player, a fact the Redskins are well aware of. The Redskins however, are confident that they can slow down Newton by using a swarm defense.

That’s at least what linebacker Mason Foster says is Washington’s game plan against Newton.

“You just got to swarm on him, he’s a big dude, great athlete, runs that offense well. So, it’s going to come down to us playing hard and swarming him, man,” Foster said. “Being on top of our keys, executing, get your eyes right. They have a lot of misdirection, a lot of stuff like that. So, you got to keep your eyes in the right place and make your plays when they come to you.”

“Be physical, swarm to the ball,” Foster said. “You’ve got to limit their big plays because they’ve got big time players, but at the end of the day you gotta go out there and be physical. It’s going to be a game in the trenches but that’s the way we like it man, they’re going to try to run the ball and we want to be physical and stop...
