Sidelined by a heel injury, Redskins wide receiver Josh Doctson did not play in Washington’s 43-19 loss to New Orleans on Monday.
Docston is still dealing with the heel injury and earlier this week, it was unclear if he was able to play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Redskins coach Jay Gruden however, believes that Docston’s injury would keep him out for that much longer.
“I don’t know if it’s anything, it’s just a nagging deal I think,” Gruden said about Docston on Wednesday. “If you think about a swollen heel or a sore heel, every time you put your shoe on and run, it’s going to be a nagging type deal. I don’t think it’s anything that will keep him out of the lineup for the next few weeks, but it will be something that he’s got to a get a new shoe probably and something to work with and deal with.”
Even if Doctson does return against the Panthers, he will need to step up his play as he’s been almost non-existent this season. In the three game he’s played in, Docston has recored just five catches for 48 yards on 13...
