Giants' Connor Barwin misses practice with 'soreness,' no ETA on return

Following their first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium this past week, the New York Giants were fortunate to have not suffered any serious injuries.

However, one concern following the game is the health of veteran linebacker Connor Barwin, who did not practice on Sunday.

Head coach Pat Shurmur informed reporters that Barwin is “sore” and that there’s no ETA on his return at the moment.

Barwin was a late signing for the Giants this summer, so he might still be dealing with the aftermath of rushing to get into football shape and catching back up with the speed of the game.

Players also tend to deal with soreness in the summer during training camp because of the intense heat. The Giants have also practiced in full pads quite a bit under Shurmur.

For the Giants’ sake, they can only hope that Barwin’s “soreness” is minimal and just a result of the aforementioned heat and lack of an offseason workout program. He was signed to be and remains much-needed pass rushing...
