Former Baltimore Colts player George Taliaferro has died at the age of 91.
An Indiana product, Taliaferro played in the NFL from 1950-55 and is most notably known as the first African-American to be drafted into the league when he was selected in the 13th round by the Chicago Bears in the 1949 NFL Draft.
Taliaferro played in the NFL for the New York Yanks (1950-51), Dallas Texans (1952), Baltimore Colts (1953-54) and Philadelphia Eagles (1955). He went on to earn three Pro Bowl selections (1951-53).
Taliaferro finished his NFL career with 2,226 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns while also adding 95 receptions for 1,300 receiving yards.
He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981.
