The New York Giants wanted veteran Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to take a pay cut and potentially change his position, but in the end, the two sides could not agree on a plan of action and that led to DRC having his contract terminated by the team.
For his part, Rodgers-Cromartie harbored no ill-will towards the Giants and understood that it was a business decision, ultimately parting ways with a “Once a Giants, always a Giant.”
But as it turns out, Rodgers-Cromartie could swiftly turn into a Giants rival who covers wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. twice per season.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Rodgers-Cromartie will visit the Washington Redskins on Tuesday and then, assuming he’s not signed, will meet with the New Orleans Saints.
If the Redskins do ultimately sign Rodgers-Cromartie, which is anything but a foregone conclusion, it would create an interesting NFC East dynamic and a competitive matchup between the veteran corner and his former teammate.
