The Indianapolis Colts placed veteran right guard Matt Slauson on the injured reserve, the team announced on Monday.
There wasn’t a sign that Slauson suffered an injury. He started all five games of the season and played through the Week 5 game against the New England Patriots without any sign that he was dealing with an injury.
The Colts have dealt with serious injuries this season, and this is just another big blow to the offensive line, which is a unit that has been without its starting left tackle for the first five games.
With Slauson out, rookie guard Braden Smith likely gets the call at right guard after starting at right tackle in Week 5. Smith was selected with the No. 37 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
As a corresponding move, the Colts signed center/guard Evan Boehm to the 53-man roster off of the Los Angeles Rams practice squad.
