Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes needs to make more room in his trophy cabinet. The 23-year-old has an impressive list of achievements in his first year as a starting quarterback. Now, winning an ESPY is among that list.
The 2019 NFL MVP has already taken home an ESPY award before the show has even officially started. They handed out the award for “Best NFL Player” to Mahomes while he made his appearance on the red carpet ahead of the awards ceremony.
Mahomes had to beat out three other nominees to earn this prestigious award. Those players were New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees, Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald and Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley. Keep in mind that the ESPYs are taking place in Los Angeles, so he managed to beat out two separate players from the home team, so to speak.
It’s unclear if there will still be a presentation for this award during the ceremony. It’s hard to believe that they wouldn’t at least make some sort of mention of it during the show, even if they don’t present him with an...
