Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin is likely to miss Sunday’s game against the Bills due to a foot injury. The absence of Benjamin means that second-year wideout Mike Williams has a chance to shoot up the depth chart with more opportunities that will be presented this weekend.
After a phenomenal preseason that featured a highlight reel catch that made everyone remember why he was taken in the first round in 2017, Williams showed in Week 1 against the Chiefs that he’s ready to take another step forward by catching five passes for 81 yards.
This is making for a tough situation for No. 2 receiver Tyrell Williams, who he’s secretly going head-to-head with. Tyrell was nearly blanked against Kansas City by reeling in two catches for only eight yards.
In Week 2, the pair get to face a soft Buffalo defense. If Mike can outplay Tyrell once again, the words of the former Clemson product being a bust can officially come to an end.
