The Celtics begin the playoff portion of Summer League against division rival New York Knicks. Like the Celtics, the Knicks team is a combination of rookies, second year players and undrafted hopefuls. Win or lose, they are guaranteed one more game after this one.

Both teams may be missing a key players. Frank Ntilikina, the Knicks point guard of the future, suffered a groin injury and is listed as day to day. This is giving Allonzo Trier an opportunity to make an impression. Also listed as day to day are Isaiah Hicks (groin) and Luke Kornet (hamstring).

The Celtics rookie, Robert Williams III hasn’t played since the first quarter of the Celtics first game in Summer League. He is listed as day to day with a knee bruise. He has expressed his hope that he will be able to play in spite of still having some pain in the knee. The Celtics are likely to be cautious with him and if there is any doubt about the knee he will once again sit out the game. According to ESPN, “Williams (knee) has been “progressing really well” and is questionable for Thursday’s summer league...
