Perhaps the biggest story for the Arizona Cardinals in their preseason opener Saturday night will be how rookie quarterback Josh Rosen looks. It won’t make or break his career, but it will be the first NFL game action for Arizona’s top draft pick and quarterback of the future.
He will get plenty of playing time, says coach Steve Wilks.
While he impressed early on, there have been rookie ups and downs, as can be expected. However, he is getting there.
Addressing reporters on Wednesday, he said he feels “a lot more comfortable and fluid” with the playbook, which has been the source of his mistakes. He has made progress.
“At the line of scrimmage, I’m focused more and more on what the defense is trying to do to me rather than getting the right snap count and getting the right protection,” he explained.
He is getting better as well at “little things — how to use a double cadence to try and draw someone offsides.”
