Bears bolster offensive line in new NFL.com mock draft

It’s easy to connect the dots between the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson.

It’s a lot harder to envision scenarios where he’s still on the board when the Bears pick eighth overall.

However, in the newest mock draft from Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, quarterbacks and defenders occupy most of the Top 7, leaving the stud linemen to fall to Chicago at eight.

Pick 8: Quenton Nelson – OG, Notre Dame

With the Bears having a need at the position and Nelson’s Notre Dame O-line coach, Harry Hiestand, taking over those duties in Chicago, Nelson would fit perfectly.

Nelson is the consensus top offensive lineman in the draft and projected by many to be a Top-5 pick.

There is some debate, though, as to how valuable it is to pick a guard that high in the draft, given that other positions might make a bigger impact week-to-week.
