While the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense established its dominance in Week 1’s game against the New York Giants, it came at the cost of a fine for Pro Bowl defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. It was announced Friday that the league fined him $10,026 for his facemask infraction on rookie running back Saquon Barkley.

The player who he routinely lined up against a training camp, offensive tackle Cam Robinson, was hit with an identical fine for the unnecessary roughness penalty he acquired in the same game. Robinson had multiple penalties in Sunday’s game, but this one was a result of him engaging in some post-play activities with a Giants defender after a play was whistled dead.

Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers was fined for the same amount, too, after tripping Jags defensive end Calais Campbell. The incident occurred on the first play of the game and negated a short reception to receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Each infraction marked the first fines of Ngakoue, Robinson and Flowers’ 2018 seasons.
