With a need on the edge and a possible need in the middle of the defense, it’s safe to say the New York Jets will be scouring the free agent market for linebackers this offseason.
Jordan Jenkins has one of the outside starting spots locked down, but it would behoove the Jets to find an upgrade opposite of him. Lorenzo Mauldin has failed to get the job done in his brief time in the league.
Darron Lee is set to be a starter at middle linebacker for the Jets for years to come. However, there’s every chance Demario Davis departs this offseason, which would leave a gaping hole next to Lee.
There are plenty of big-name linebackers available this free agency period, but many of them are either veterans on the decline.
