As the NFL Draft combine approaches and free agency kicks off, what moves do the Detroit Lions need to give themselves a shot at a playoff run in 2018?

How close are the Detroit Lions to being contenders in the NFC? It’s a fair question to ask. Nearly anyone who follows the Lions as closely as I do would agree that the roster isn’t quite there yet. “Not quite there yet” can mean a lot of things though.

I’m going to approach this question strictly in terms of player personnel. The front office (hardly a pillar for stability and competence in my lifetime) seems to be committed and on the same page. The standard for success has been raised, evidenced by moving on from Jim Caldwell despite three winning seasons in four years.
