Bryce Harper thanks parents in emotional MVP speech

The annual BBWAA Awards dinner had to be canceled on Saturday night after Winter Storm Jonas effectively shut down New York City and the surrounding areas. However, the show did go on in a scaled down private ceremony, where all of the winners in attendance were presented their respecitve awards.

Among those who made the show was Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper. We're awfully glad he did, too, because Harper stole the night, delivering a highly emotional speech while accepting his first National League MVP award.

In it, Harper made a special effort to thank his parents, Ron and Sheri, for the sacrifices they made and the support they offered as he developed his skills and chased his dreams. Both were in attendance to share the moment with their son, and every time Harper mentioned them, the emotions would become almost overwhelming.
