NCAA toying with idea of allowing student-athletes to return to college after NBA tryouts

The long-standing debate that the NCAA rules about declaring for the NBA draft prohibit college basketball players declaring for the draft from making educated decisions about their futures may be coming to a more favorable conclusion.

Included among the topics that the NCAA's members will entertain at the 2016 NCAA Convention this week is the proposal of a rule that would allow college basketball players to declare for the NBA draft multiple times. 

"The proposal moves back the date by which students must declare for the draft and allows them to declare more than once in a college career," an NCAA spokeswoman outlined in a release. "The declaration date is now the day before the first day of the spring National Letter of Intent signing period; the new date would be 10 days after the NBA combine."
