The Oakland Raiders emerged victorious with a 27-24 victory in their visit to Miami for a Sunday Night Football matchup between two 2016 AFC playoff teams. This matchup had a lot of intrigue, as the Dolphins were going through yet another fiasco for the season due to the fact that they traded away their 2016 Pro Bowl running back Jay Ajayi, stunningly. Meanwhile the Raiders were reeling and trying to find themselves and keep their playoff hopes alive after an underwhelming start to the season.
This game saw the return of one key offensive player per team, as Marshawn Lynch had completed his one-game suspension for shoving a referee, and Jay Cutler had recovered well enough to suit up despite having broken ribs. The Dolphins had come fresh off an absolutely humiliating 40-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. Meanwhile, the Raiders had just lost by twenty to the Buffalo Bills. Both teams were especially hungry for a win, and needed one badly in order to keep morale from crumbling.
With that said, all eyes were on head coach Adam Gase and Miami’s struggling offense heading into this game as Gase was under heavy fire for giving away a Pro Bowl running back after a huge loss for just a 2018 fourth-round pick from the Philadelphia Eagles.
