Draft in Here: Cowboys organization has short preparation window

Cowboys, you’re on the clock.

Dallas will play host to the illustrious NFL Draft this season, holding the annual event at AT&T Stadium from April 26 though April 28. It marks the fourth year of the league rotation locations after the festivities spent decades in New York City.

The Cowboys outbid 18 teams for this opportunity, and they better amke it spectacular because another chance isn’t coming anytime soon.

This draft will also be their last for quite some time according to Sports Day. Charlotte Jones Anderson, executive Vice President and chief brand officer said another draft wouldn’t be seen in North Texas for decades following the one to come in April.

There is no set criteria for hosting the draft, according to Anderson, and the Cowboys have yet to nail down the logistics of the draft hosting aspect.

“I wish I could tell you exactly what we are expecting this whole thing will look like,” Anderson said. “There has been some ambiguity in the process. But I do expect a lot of people to come out to see it.”

There is still no “face” of the draft but some think Drew Pearson’s antics last year may give him the upper hand to be selected as the weekend’s defacto host. Details about ticket sign ups, the layout of which the stadium will be used for the actual ceremony should begin to trickle out in the next few weeks now that the league office has the Super Bowl behind...
