Sammy Watkins is a name many thought would be franchise tagged and kept away from the free agency market this offseason. That is not the route the Los Angeles Rams chose to go and Watkins will now be free to test the market and leave town – should he choose to do so.
Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts could very well be a landing spot for Watkins, as they are expected to be in the market for wide receivers this offseason. T.Y. Hilton and Chester Rogers are currently the only receivers under contract on the roster.
There are some that don’t think the Colts should pursue Watkins this offseason due to his history of inconsistency and injury issues.
That being said, there is reason to believe that he could turn things around in Indianapolis. No one can control injuries, but having a quarterback like Andrew Luck could help Watkins from a consistency standpoint.
