Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers have put the franchise tag on running back Le’Veon Bell for a second straight season, they have to decide what to do with him now. In theory, Pittsburgh has until July 15 to work out a new contract but this would push past the draft and that might not be wise.
Here are four reasons trading Bell now is the smart move for the Steelers.
Waiting to trade Bell until mid-July hurts the immediate return the Steelers could get. They could certainly still command future draft picks but if the goal is to cut ties and still get better, getting picks for this draft means the two sides have about five weeks to make something happen.
